Glazed Purple Stripe garlic
Purple wrappers with a gold or silver sheen.
Good for roasting whole heads and most plants per pound of seed.
By winter

What the catalogs say
Royal purple wrappers tinged with gold or silver. Boundary warns the wrappers are fragile, which makes harvest timing more critical here than in any other group. Only two strains are widely sold. Underrepresented in the USDA genetic study and not clearly differentiated, so the group rests on morphology. Varieties include Purple Glazer and Vekak.
Clove count is contradicted. Hood River gives 9 to 12 elongated cloves; Filaree describes fewer, smaller and less elongated cloves than standard Purple Stripe. The cell is left blank.
